Since 2020, I've been watching many K-drama series in different genres. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of these kinds of series, but I found a few in the "feel good" and "coming of age" genres that I thought were interesting and a lot of fun. These two series really touched my heart and stirred up emotions. After finishing them, I gained many positive messages and thoughts hidden within the stories.

In this blog, I want to recommend two "feel good" K-drama series that I've watched. If you haven't seen them yet or you're looking for new dramas to watch, you're in the right place.

1.Racket Boys (2021)

At first, I decided to watch this series because two actors I like were in it. But as I watched more episodes, I found that every actor in the series was impressive, and I grew to love their performances. The core messages of this series are about the relationships within families, friendships, and the people in the countryside. It also highlights the importance of teamwork and pursuing dreams. It teaches us how to handle problems, deal with disappointment, and face defeat.

The story of Racket Boys is about a small badminton team. It all begins with Yun Hyunjeong, (played by Kim Sungkyung). He's a badminton coach from Seoul who went to guarantee a loan for a friend until he was in debt and need to find money to pay it back. But due to many expenses, he decided to move and become a badminton coach at countryside’s high school.

He has a son named Yun Haegang(played by Tang Junsang), who becomes the main character in this series. When Haegang was a child, he played badminton once. But he later switched to playing tennis. However, moving with his dad made him lost the opportunity to play tennis, then he has to return to playing badminton because his dad asks him to.

To make a team, they need to find more members. The team consists of high school students who are also the main characters of this series. Other team members are Bang Yoondam (played by Son Sangyeon), Na Woochan (played by Choi Hyunwook), Lee Yongtae (played by Kim Kanghoon), and Jeong Insol (played by Kim Mingi).

Once the team was formed, the story is all about their practices and tournaments. It's about how they went from being strangers to becoming close friends. They faced many challenges together, and when they cried, they cried together. When they laughed, they laughed together. Their relationship made me feel emotional, like I was part of the story with the characters.

And for those who thought it would only be about friendships, there's also a sweet little love story to warm your heart. It happens between two boys and two girl from other school's badminton team; Han Seyoon (played by Lee Jaein) and Lee Hansol (played by Lee Jiwon).

Aside from the story, the lighting, colors, and theme in the series are also bright and colorful that suitable for the age of the characters. In every episode, they also included some cute and detailed graphic animations, which made the series even more adorable. Moreover, the OST of this series sung by THEBOYZ; the KPOP boy group that has so many talents. Their main vocalists have strong potential in singing.

I remember when "Racket Boys" was on Netflix. I used to eagerly wait every week for the next episodes. I loved everything about the series: the story, the actors, the music, the lighting, and the colors. In addition, most of the actors in the series were young and relatively new, but they did a fantastic job. They really got into their characters, which made the audience feel connected to them.

Even if you're not in high school anymore, watching this series can take you back to that time. It reminds you of the fun times with your friends and the things you enjoyed together.

2.Extraordinary Attorney Woo

When I first saw the poster and teaser for this series, I wasn't very interested. But after watching the second or third episode, I'm so obsessed with it because of many reasons.

The main character in this series is a lawyer who has autism. Her name is Woo Youngwoo (played by Park Eunbin). She grew up with her dad. When she was little, she didn't talk to people, make eye contact, or follow instructions, which was hard for her dad. But she's really smart with an IQ of 164, and she has a great memory. She loves reading legal books and is really fond of law matters. So, her dad encouraged her to study law. After she graduated, she got a job at a top law firm called "Hanbada" and became Korea's first female lawyer with autism.

Even though she's super talented and smart, she still faces prejudice and doubt from her colleagues and clients. She's a very straightforward person. When she thinks something, she says it right away, which can sometimes make her clients feel a bit uncomfortable. But she works really hard and pays a lot of attention to the details in every case.

Every episode of the series would have different cases. In each case, Youngwoo faces challenging problems and must deal with many different types of clients. This is a challenge for her because some clients may not accept her working on their cases. But, Youngwoo has her dad, her best friends, and her boyfriend who always support her. She's lucky to have such good people around her. Let's meet four of the people who are always there for Youngwoo.

1.Woo Kwangho (played by Jeon Baesoo); he's Youngwoo’s dad. He raised Youngwoo alone because he broke up with his ex-wife since Youngwoo was little. He loves his daughter very much and always protects Youngwoo from things that she shouldn’t know.

2.Choi Soohyun (played by Ha Yoonkyung). She's Youngwoo's best friend. They studied at the same university and now work at the same law firm. Soohyun is a really great friend. Back in university, she always protected Youngwoo. Even at work, even though Youngwoo is better than her in many ways, Soohyun has never been jealous or hated Youngwoo. She's always been there to support and cheer up her friend.

3.Dong Geulami (played by Joo Hyunyoung). She's another one of Youngwoo's best friends outside the company. Geulami is always there to listen to Youngwoo's stories and offers advice on things that Youngwoo may find difficult or lacks confidence in. This friend has a fantastic sense of humor and keeps the story light and funny, making the audience laugh a lot.

4.Lee Junho (played by Kang Taeoh), he isn't exactly one of Youngwoo's friends. He's a co-worker who slowly develop a relationship with her and become her boyfriend. He was really nice to her from the first they that they didn’t know each other. Junho always listened to Youngwoo's stories with a smile and never annoyed irritated. Plus, he treats Youngwoo with respect, protects her, and takes good care of her.

Besides the law matters, Youngwoo interested about Whale. She knows everything about them and talks about whale stuff whenever she can. The whale can be seen as Youngwoo herself as she's a whale that goes into the vast ocean called the world. I think this detail is adorable.

Other elements in this series are really nice too. The colors and style of the show make the usually stressful legal stuff seem much brighter and more enjoyable.

This series teaches me important things. It shows that even if Youngwoo is different, she can still do what she loves and be successful, just like anyone else. It also reminds us that everyone deserves love and fair treatment, no matter who we are.

These two series will stay in my heart for a long time. They made me see life in a different way. So, I hope you, my readers, also get positive thoughts from watching them. If you've already watched them and have an opinion, feel free to share it in the comments. Thanks, and see you in the next blog!
